CAMP INFORMATION

I would like to share with you an event that will impact the lives of future college and professional basketball players. In August 2010, Roger Powell Jr. Ministries will be hosting a three day Basketball Leadership Camp. The athletes in attendance will be given the tools to excel in their God-given gift, and shown that their gift has a purpose, one much greater than the game of basketball itself.

The camp will be held annually every summer at Calvary Church in Naperville, Ill. Twenty-Five high school student athletes, who have demonstrated good morals and leadership skills, will be selected to participate in our camp.

A number of coaches and athletes will be in attendance for the camp, including present and former NBA players who are committed to exhibiting Godly character as their main purpose in life. They will assist me in providing the student athletes with athletic and leadership development from a “God-centered” perspective. The leadership development topics will include teaching on goal setting with an emphasis on being purpose driven. On the basketball side, the participants will learn valuable fundamental drills they can use to further enhance their skills on the court.

In addition, there will be various forms of leadership training and character building seminars. The athletes will take home valuable materials that will help them to build their character and define their purpose. It is my desire that each player that attends this camp, will walk away with a fundamental understanding of what it means to be a Godly leader who leads by example both on and off the court.

Who Is Eligible?

All High School Varsity Basketball athletes who are entering into their Sophmore to Senior year in the 2010 school year. You must have a 2.5 GPA or higher to qualify.

How Do I Apply And What Is The Cost?

If you are interested in this camp, you can apply right here online or you can mail it in or e-mail it in. Just click on the Apply button and fill out the Player Application form. Please be reminded that we will hand select those who are chosen to participate in the RPJ Ministries Basketball Leadership Camp. Only those who are nominated (RPJ Elite) will bypass the application process. Those who are nominated will just need to fill out the RPJ Elite Form located on the Apply page.

Currently, the 2010 application process is open! The application deadline is June 28, 2010.
All applicants will be notified if they have been accepted for the 2010 Basketball Leadership Camp. If you are accepted to the camp, the cost is $150.

What Are the Requirements? (WORD DOCUMENTS ONLY)

2 recommendations (by a coach, teacher, or pastor)
One-page paper on the topic "Why I Am A Leader"

Each applicant will need to have two recommendations either written by a coach, teacher or pastor (parents are excluded). Also, a one-page paper is required written on the topic "Why I Am A Leader". This paper should demonstrate why you are a leader.
